SAVN™, das “Shark Accident Victim Network” ist on-line.
SAVN™ wurde in den USA vor rund 2 Jahren von Haiunfall-Opfern als lose Gruppe gegründet, um neuen Opfern auf verschiedenste Weisen helfen zu können. Ende letzten Jahres wurde beschlossen, SAVN™ als steuerbefreites Hilfswerk eintragen zu lassen. Die primäre Aufgaben von SAVN™ liegen bspw. im aktiven Beistand von Unfallopfern, Hilfe bei deren Genesung, verhaltenstherapeutischen Aspekten, allgemeiner mentaler Betreuung, aber auch finden von professionellen Kräften, die sich pro bono solchen Opfern annehmen. SAVN™ unterhält Diskussionsgruppen für Unfallopfer, gibt Vorträge für Liveguards, Surfers, Schwimmer und Badende mit Schwerpunkt auf “Tun, Lassen und Vorbeugen” und gibt vierteljährliche Newsletter heraus, rund um das Unfallgeschehen, Verhütungen, Unfallanalysen und Rekonstruktionen. SAVN™ offeriert eine ständig erweiterte Liste aller Problemkreise, im Zusammenhang mit Haibegegnungen, oder derem Vorbeugen, die frei runtergeladen werden können (www.savn.org). Neben individuellen Unfallanalysen und Rekonstruktionen - in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Global Shark Attack File (GSAF) - unterhält SAVN™ auch eine der grössten, frei zugänglichen Unfalldatenbanken auf dem Internet. Es ist den Direktoren von SAVN™ ein Anliegen, so viele frühere Unfallopfer wie möglich zu vereinigen, da ein wichtiger Teil ihrer Arbeit auch darin liegt, Mentoren für neue Opfer zu finden. Our Mission: No shark accident victim should face the challenge of living with a bite trauma alone. You don’t have to deal with this alone. We are also shark accident victims and, we are here to help you. If you are having a difficult time understanding the many emotions you are going through, please let us help. As fellow victims of a shark bite, we understand the fear, the hurt, and the anger you are feeling.
